Blowing fuse

My starboard rercirculator on the livewell went out last week, ordered two cartages due to both being cracked even though the port still worked. They are the rule 500, its a 2007 ZX225. I tried splicing the old plugs onto the new ones, I bought new connectors and have wired them direct using wire nuts. The starboard side will work, i will turn it off turn on the port side and pop, turn on the starboard side and pop. I have gone through almost 10 fuses, I tried putting a 5 amp in but they wont turn on. Everything is the same I don't know why they are blowing. Any suggestions on where to start would be great. The dash light does come on even with the blown fuse.

Did you replace the blown fuse with one of the same size? Sounds like both pumps together are drawing too much current and popping your fuses.

I had the same thing popping fuses on my port side recirc pump. i changed the pump cartridge and that solved it. cost me less than $50 and just had to re-wire the new one in.

The pump would run when it was mostly empty but with a full livewell it would pop the fuse after 15 seconds.
