    2007 ZX 225 Setup Help

    Hi All,

I have a "new to me" 2007 ZX 225 with 2007 Yamaha 225 HPDI. Hoping to save alot of time/trial and error by posting this here.

There must be a pretty solid setup for this boat. I currently have a 25-t1 prop that is lightly dinged(maybe enough to affect performance). I want to purchase a new prop and keep old one for spare. What is the best all around prop for this rig? I would like to keep the quick holeshot sacrificing maybe a little top end speed!?!?

I've only had it out once since winter is setting in here. So I don't have accurate numbers, but, I was running 68gps at 5900 with 2 guys and 1/2 to 3/4 tanks of gas. I will hopefully get out once or twice more before the ice starts forming around here. I will hopefully have more info at that time. Was just wondering what the norm numbers are?

The boat may already be properly set up by previous owner/dealer, but, I thought I would ask to see what the consensus would be on setup here. And don't want to waste money on the wrong prop.

    Thanks a bunch!

Re: 2007 ZX 225 Setup Help (harebawl)

I have an 05 ZX225 (see pic below) with a new B&B T1-25P and a T1-27P (dinged a little). The numbers below were taken with full gas tanks, empty livewells, 2 people 225lbs each, with 4 batteries.

I ran the 27P all year and managed 70-71.5 consistantly @ 5500RPM. I did manage to get 72mph on one occasion for a short time before dropping off slightly.

The 25P had a slightly better hole shot and maxed out around 70. I had it turning over 6000 rpm but lowered the motor to keep it at a hair under 6k.

My impressions were the 25P gave a better hole shot and felt tighter but didn't seem to have as much top end as the 27P.

I only managed one short day with the 25P on before i winterized so i'm sure i can get a little more out of it. I also think once the 27P is repaired it will likely give me a little more too.

There's some honest numbers.. i'm missing the pad measurements as i really need to spend a day playing to get some exact figures.

I have the same boat, just an older model and engine. I use the Yamaha T1-27 VMAX prop. The dealer I bought it from did all the adjustments such. I consistantly run 69-71 with myself (220lbs) and my partner (250+) and both of our gear. I top out myself only at 74.4. I am very happy with my top end and will accept the hole shot I get. Some people get up faster than me but there are only a couple boats in my tourny group that can run faster than me. My RPMs top at 5700-5900.

Thanks guys, I guess I should have called the post "which prop should I buy".

Sounds like the ideal prop would be something inbetween, say a 26pitch? Large diameter prop.....like the T1?

The only problem is i don't think you can buy a 26P T1 they only make a 25 or 27. If you want a 26P you'd either have to get a 25 or 27 repitched OR get a TXP prop.

I almost went for a 26P TXP but came across the B&B 25P at a great price so i could hardly say no.

I have a 26txp that I got for my zx250 and it added 2 mph over a 27t1 for what its worth. I have a 25 t1 that I have yet to try, will post numbers when I do.
