I knew these style transom savers were available for Mercury; this one says it is for Yamaha. Anyone tried one of these yet?

I'd also consider one of these http://www.moto-stops.com/motostop.html or an M-Y wedge with steering clips.

I have used one for a year now on both a Zx225 and a Zx250 and I truly am sold on them. I have no affiliation with them and this is my own opinion, They perform as stated and I have seen no ill effects at all. Our dealer actually rigs all their new boats with Yamaha Outboards with them and they are one of the Top 2 seeling Skeeter and also top 1-2 ranger dealers in the U.S. volume wise in sales and they have had no complaints. They are also made here locally and i know pro Rule stands behind them completely. Great product.![]()
I just bought one of the Pro Rule saver the other week. Used it once for one trip and i like it. I would say get it.........

I don't see how it can be called a transom saver. It appears to me that all the weight of the motor is still resting on the transom. All I can see that is does is keep the weight off of your tilt and trim unit. I think I'll continue to use the old kind, it is just my opinion.

Same as that small little piece of aluminum on the old style really keeps no weight off the transom either. It simply makes it part of the trailer as a whole. If your traler goes over a bump or pothole then the old style transom saver just passes on the impact to the motor. Truth be known your transom/motor gets more abuse while running down the lake than it ever does being towed. I've seen with my own two eyes the benefits of the newer style in operation, ease of use andI also like that my prop rides a little higher up with it in case I run over something unforseen on the road as it reduces the chance of damagig my prop.
In the end its all just personal preference.
I just bought one from Pro Rule for my Yamaha VMAX 150, and so far so good. it's much easier than the transom saver I had, and it really locks the motor down tight, off the trim rams. I know there are many arguments for & against them, but I don't think I'll be going back to the old style anytime soon.
that moto stop looks pretty interesting too....never seen one before, but it looks like it does the same thing as the one I got does

I have purchased a m-y wedge for my new boat that I orderd (boat not in yet). The only thing I would worry about with the moto version is that the Yamahas have a grease zirk (if that's what you call it) on the port side of the motor that the apparatus might hit.
Hey Mark, can you post some pictures of yours installed? I would like to see how high the motor sits compared to mine now with the traditional t-saver installed.
Thanks for all the good information.

blackknife,
In the past picture, you have it upside down. The curved end should be on bottom to fit the groove on the yamaha.
Also, EVERYONE who buys this... BEWARE that you need to have it all the way over the pistons before lowering the motor. I've heard of a guy that bent his trim pistons because he didn't push the TS all the way to the base.
I have this and think it's great. Been using it for over a year and it works like advertised and it's a lot easier to just put in the storage at the boat ramp and speeds up the process.

I have a my-wedge and used it a for about a yr, until it broke that zirk fitting. Now I'm just using a ole trailer frame to motor transom saver.

The item from Pro Rule doesn't have anything sticking out the side to hit that grease zirk fitting.![]()
