If you have a GPS that logs trip data you should be able to measure the amount of miles traveled divided by the gallons of fuel used and get in the ballpark. It will likely by in the neighborhood of 3-4.5 mpg, depending on how you run it. If you run WOT all the time it could be a little less than 3.0 mpg.
Do a search on Yamaha's website- that motor is still in production and I think I saw where they listed the estimated fuel economy. I believe on the chart I saw that the small blocks run most efficiently (about twice the MPG) at around 3,500 rpm vs 5,800.
Amen...mucho gas saved under 4,000rpms... after the insane blastoff, that is where I stay 90% of the time...

I have the LowranceNet with fuel flow meter and it shows me getting about 3.5 at 60 mph. If I bump the speed up, mpg goes down.
