2008 skeeter boat leaks

Has anyone else here ever bought a boat that leaks? I did. No gaurantees that the problems fix either. I am skeptical. If the fittings on the transom are leaking already and they stop the leak by simply caulking around the fitting with silicone, Is my transom going to be rotting from day 1. By the way what is the "composite" transom constructed from. The boat is sx190 2008 model. I really like the boat. I understand that there is nothing perfect and the sx line is skeeters base line, Am I asking too much? Getting aggravated !

First off....Welcome to the BBC. I really hate to hear that you are having troubles with a brand new boat like that. It's not uncommon to have a small problem, or two with a brand new one. It's all in how the dealer handles taking care of them that keeps your experience good.

It could be something as simple as a live well fill pump cartridge that wasn't locked into it's housing, or a hose that's got a small split. If it's a small leak, it can be a real pain to locate. I hope they got it on the 1st attempt. Skeeter makes a great product, and i'm sure you will get taken care of right.

Like Robert said, it could be other things. Take it back to the lake and test it out. If it's still leaking, maybe run the livewell pumps, bile pumps, etc. and take a look around and see where it may be coming from. Some have had cracked houseing on the pumps and water was getting in like that. It will take a little time to figure it out. And yes, all boats have problems when they are new. I have several with my SX190 when i bought it. I fixed everything and all is well.

A quicker way than going to the lake woud be to fill your livewells in the driveway w/ them closed then check to see if any water is gathering in the sump area in the back(make sure to run your areator pumps to rule them out). If not fill the sump area with water and see if you can tell were its coming from on the outside. Oh and welcome aboard. You should check out the KY,IN,OH and TN board.
