SPEEDOMETER NOT WORKING?

I have a 1998 Skeeter ZX 195c / 200HP EFI Yamaha. The speedometer Isn't working. I cleaned out the small port on the bottom of the engine. There was a tiny stick stuck in there, and when I got it out water spurt from the hole. I thought it would be o.k. but, it's still not working. ANY IDEAS ? THANKS IN ADVANCE!! BILLY BOY

IT STILL HAS WOOD IN IT. TRY GETTING A SMALL DRILL BIT BY HAND TO GET THE REST OF IT OUT. BE CAREFUL DONT BREAK THE BIT OR IT WILL NEVER WORK.

I did use a small drill bit (by hand) it felt like I hit metal ?

Right in the leading edge of the LU just above the bullet maybe 3-5 in just guessing. It looks like a small metal circle flush with the leading edge. Usually it gets packed with wood and the very small drill bit by hand will get it out.
