    Maintenence saves time and money

Just a friendly reminder, check those "little" maintenence issues before they make you check them.

    Here's my list for today,

Removed hub cover screws and lubed with grease to prevent sticking (also make sure your lug wrench fits your lugs on your boat trailer)

Remove prop and check for fishing line, check seal.

    Change lower unit oil.

    Check tire pressure and wear.

Check/fill battery water levels, and tighten battery terminal connections.

Tighten trolling motor, transcucer, prop, mount, etc. Check handle rope for wear.

Tighten screws for windshiels, hinges, steering wheel, hotfoot, etc.

    Check livewell controls and switches.

That's all I got done today. Feel free to add to the list, but for sure, a little time now, saves a lot of heartache (and money) later.

Also, check your spare tire, and if you have a lock on it, make sure it will open.

Yep. Just found out that my livewell pump was out. Got to call on Monday to see it is covered under warranty.

    GREAT TOPIC!

I would recommend reviewing the Op Manuals. Boat, Motor, Trailer, Electronics.

Fuel Filters - HPDI needs High Pressure Filter changed at regular intervals (20 hrs first then annually). Water Seperator, Other Fuel Filters. (North Americas has the dirtest fuel per industrial engine manufacturer rep I spoke with) Better to be safe than sorry.

Check for loose wires and tighten electrical connections, too.

I always change my LU oil once a year and also use full synthetic. The owner's manual says to change after the first 10 hours and then every 100 hours or once a year (which ever comes first).

Re: Maintenence saves time and money (jgun)

Does anyone know where to find a screw tighting monkey? My poor skeeter gets lighter and lighter each trip because almost everytime I find a loose screw or nut rolling around the bottom of the boat and I rarely find where they came from. I try to tighten all the ones I can find, but I'm still having them come out all over the place. So, I figure if I can find the screw tightning monkey I can just store him under the boat cover and have him work each day on those pesky loose screws and nuts! Problem solved, now what do you feed monkeys?

Same here. Opened the back lid up to check my pumps out and there was one S.S. screw and two locking (nylon) nuts sitting next to the battery. I have no idea where they came from. Looked around and couldn't find anything. Just stuck them in the tool box in the boat for future times. Just hope nothing falls off.

Funny you mention the screw monkey... I just found a screw in the bilge area last week.

Have no idea where it goes, guess I'll find out the hard way one day

.......and run Ring Free. Guess the last owner of my rig didnt. Been having a little problem with the EFI, guess you all have read that thread. Anyway, clean your O2 sensor(mine was corroded pretty bad with carbon), fresh set of plugs cant hurt, change your fuel filter and change the foot grease.

If you are talking about a stainless screw that is a little over an inch in length, it is coming from the under side of your fishing seat. I kept finding these screws and when I was pulling the boat I noticed the cushion flopping around a little while pulling the boat home. There are 4 holding on the bottom seat cushion. I had to put some thread lock on to keep mine in.

Doug is right on the money about the filters, I just had the low and hi pressure filters replaced. 198.00 and all set.
