No that is a legit question, we just don't know what 225 they want to install. Sure it isn't a 235?

Yep kinda hard to beat them old cross flows. Unless they change the adapter plate and a few other things I don't think it will work.

    Re: 175 johnson (GEORGIA BASSIN)

What is wrong with your GT175? Why did it blow.

Those are very good motors and are really hard to kill. If it is rebuilt right it will last forever.

It is possible to put a 225 on your mid but it will take a bit of work. You will need a 225 adapter, a looper cowling and a set of lower pans. (there is a set from a ficht for sale for $100) That is a good price for both upper and lowers.

He might even have an adapter since his motor blew. Actaully, he probably has the entire motor. Just buy it from him and put the rebuilt 225 powerhead on it. Even though his motor is a ficht a carb motor will bolt up to that mid.

Just make sure your boat is rated for 225.

    Re: 175 johnson (Neveredge)

hey neveredge.i had a local brp dealer rebuild my gt175 fpr right at 4 grand.a few months after warranty expired motor lost all power & dealer advised a piston melted.dealer states appears to have been electrical problem.advised they can not rebuild powerhead again.boat is a ranger 364 rated for 175.no hard feelings with dealer as i know it is a gamble when you rebuild any engine.

$4K for a rebuild on a 175 that must have been a full blown race motor. You can get a reman block for about 1/2 that.

Do a google search for a reman dealer. I would have loved to collect 4K off off of that rebuild.
