Remote control question

I have my 200XP running now but I need a controller for it. Can I use an older controller without the horn, etc . or do I have to use a newer one? I started it with my buddies 91 model controller, then I hooked up my 1977 controller and it ran with that too. The oil inj is disconnected right now, but if it is still functioning I will hook it back up later. I can't use my buddies controller because the shift lever assemblies in it are screwed up, and it isn't mine to fix. My model # is E200STLCEB . As soon as I get a prop and a remote, this will be going on by boat! Thanks

I would look to replace the wiring harness so you could make use of the alarm horn. You need to be notified of the conditions causing a bad event, over temp, fuel restriction, low oil, no oil. Your control and cables will work fine but now would be a good time to replace the wiring harness.

Is it a concealed mount or surface mount? Actually your best bet would to buy a complete new control box and be done with it.

Side mount. Yeah, I guess that would be the best solution. I will see about a new control and harness. Thanks again.

Not familiar with your model boat but here is an article that shows the different types of OMC/BRP engine controls.

Not sure if you could use a concealed mount or a side mount.
There are adapters available to use a newer style controller with the older red plug ignition harness if a person wants the newer style controller.

Thanks for the link, I found it last night on a google seach. I found part #'s for most of the stuff I need for my buddies controller that he gave to me today! His cables are about 4 feet too long, and the trim/tilt harness is missing, and the warning horn looks to be messed up a bit. I will compare the repair costs to a new/used good one if I can find one and go from there. I will visit Terpsta Marine in Griffith, In on Wednesday and see what they might have for me.

Anyway, I took a perfectly good 140hp fishable-running boat apart and hung my 200XP on it. Made a lot of sense, huh! Well, at least I finally got the V6 mounted.
