    721 Console Posistion

Does anyone know the R&D reason why the consoles were posistioned so far forward?

I am not sure of the back deck dementions but visiually it looks huge. Its the only boat I have been in when sitting in the drivers seat I can not lift the livewell lid behind me.

If you removed 6"-1' off the back deck and moved the consoles further back in the boat you would move the center of gravity deeper in the boat, result more lift more speed. Only reason I can think of with more lift is your going to get more chine walk, my guess is they were trying to avoid a 04-05 Triton 21x issue, which I think are the best boats ever built btw, unfortunately not everyone was born to be able to drive a boat and Triton got a bad rep for it.

Plus you could at that length to the front deck.

Stroker is built the same way Stephen its all about balance and using the natural lift built in the hull instead of rearward weight

I think you answered your own question. If you think the other boat is the "best ever built", why does it matter?

Because they havent made them in 6 years, and the new 21hp's suck

I could see a need for having weight forward in a Stroker, as is they lift to the max.

Just something I noticed as I was looking at a 721 the other day. Never can have to large of a front deck IMO, and the back deck looked to big. I just saw a way to move the CG tward the rear and increase the front beam size.

The way the fuel tank is configured in the boats is why the rear deck / console position is the way it's configured now. The fuel tank is " L " shaped and it sits under the seats and then goes up behind the seats. This makes the livewells sit a little further back.

Maybe the better place to post was in the Triton board to get them to change their boat to your liking.
I don't think it would serve any purpose to walk in the Triton factory and ask them to change their boat, after saying Phoenix was the best boat ever built. Not the best way to approach things.

I would say Phoenix has exactly what he is looking for. It says 921 on the side of it though.

The 921 could be it. It appeared that he just wanted to stir the pot.

Nope not stiring the pot. As of now a 721 is at the top of my list for my next boat. I just was curious about the console posistioning logic. I can always find something that isnt the way I want in a boat.

The 921 is to much boat for me, though i like the front deck size. I wouldent be willing to part with the preformance of the 721 for the 921

    Re: 721 Console Posistion (alabamaphoenix)

I have a 618, which obviously has a shorter front and rear deck than the 721. I would say the front deck is nearly identical to the 6/719 while the back deck of those models is the same as the 721.

While I have never been in a 6/719, I have spent quite a bit of time in alabamaphoenix's 721. I think the rear deck is as big as it is for a few reasons. First, his doesn't chinewalk while mine will, but it is easily controlled.

Next, his has a much better holeshot when running a heavy load, but it can be argued this is due to having a 250 vs. 175 and a 10" setback vs 8". I think it makes good sense that if the fuel and passenger weight is further forward, the boat will be quicker to plane off. We did install a holeshot plate on mine the other day, which was greatly improved when I ran it with two people, and a full tank and wells.

Lastly, his doesn't get backwash, while mine will. Again, I think if the 618's weight was positioned as far forward as it is on the 721, it may cut down on the differences. However I would have a little bitty front deck, and I wouldn't be cool with that at all!

But imagine the 721's rear deck was as short as the 618's. It'd probably chinewalk like a mofo with a 250 and have a similar reputation that Triton does. I'm not saying Triton is a bad boat, because I strongly considered buying one before I found Phoenix, I'm just saying that's what they're known for. Phoenix is by far the best handling, smoothest riding boat I have ever been in. If you haven't done it already, I urge you to go drive one for yourself if you get the chance, so you can see what we're talking about.

I prefer a chine walking son-of-a-gun, loose is fast. But you are correct about the hole shot going down slightly with the CG moved further to the rear.

I havent had the chance to drive a 721 yet, my local dealer has 2 but I hate to go run them because I cant afford to buy a boat from them, they dont sell many but they get reatil + 10% frankly its insulting.

I have put off buying a new boat for several months now because the boat I want isnt getting made. Might have talked my self into a 721 though. well see

78 mph with just me or 76 with two, and no chine walk, and great ride, suites me just fine. I also like the big rear deck, so that my partner has plenty of room. The rear rod storage and dry storage for the same reason. I consider my partners comfort and convenience almost as important as mine. I have fished with some that could care less about the co-angler.

Amen I would rather have the bigger deck and not looking for max speed. Most lakes 75 is too fast with all the boat traffic.

The 618/ 619/ 719 are the same from the seats forward. The 619/ 719 are the same hull with defferent ratings done only for a price point boat.

The 721 will be close to the same top end speed as the 21x and will drive easier, I had a 2005 20x and I know what you are talking about. It took me 6 hours to learn to drive it but once I did I feel like I can drive any boat made.

Ditto. Had an 07 21XHP w/250 ProXS and a 12" jackplate. To say it was fast was an understatement. To say it was scary to drive was totally true but I put a bridle on that beast and away we went.

It's not the best boat ever built, this one is. Same speed, bigger deck, more stable, better equipped, and safer to drive at WOT. Giddyup!
