    Monty Racing

I think, if cash alows, am going to haul the Bullet to monty racing for his stage 2 kit on my 225 ho, same time I look at his place... http://outboardrebuild.com/ they give a 6 yr warr. I dont need a rebuild yet, gonna do it before it blows but man witch way to go. Monty said I can get around 275hp out my motor reliably but 6yrs warr is tempting whish they had a price list.

    Re: Monty Racing (Garfish)

If it was me, I would put the Brucato EFI on it, and skip having it ported and all that mess.

It's 3700, and it should improve your gas mileage too. A ported motor isn't going to improve your gas mileage.

Not dogging on Monty, he does great work.

I think he is talking about Outboard Rebuilders.

    Re: Monty Racing (ChampioNman)

I bought my motor from outboardrebuild.com it was a nightmare. I did have to buy a head from Monty after I got the Motor back for the third time. Monty seemed to be a decent guy.

    Re: Monty Racing (Rmart30)

Outboard rebuilders have been around since 1980......I don't think they would still be around if they weren't doing right. Did they take care of Bear? I don't want to see negative if it's not warranted. I haven't any dealings with either.

    Re: Monty Racing (Bassmeister)

    Bassmeister

The guy that owns outrebuild.com is a young kid. His parents also have a rebuild business. Maybe he has been around since 1980 but I can promise you that he has not owned outrebuild.com since 1980.

This is what happened with my deal with him . I saw an ad he placed on Scream and Fly this ad..............

    2004 Evinrude 225 Ho-
Motor is 20" and is all factory original. Has wide cav plate and nose on lower unit. Poor Rigging caused #3 low compression (ran low on oil and buzzer had purple wire pulled out from connector). Motor has Total rebuild with 0 hrs. including: NEW EVERYTHING: OEM Pistons, rings, wpins, clips, wpin bearings, rod bearings, crank bearings, seals, gaskets, thermostats, rod bolts, water pump, gear oil, and is a FRESHWATER ONLY motor that is very clean. Machine Boring and Wet Honing to .020 on all 6 cylinders performed @OutboardRebuild.com 1-888-91-MOTOR / $7,400 with Warranty. Call for details.

He told me I would have the motor within a week. I paid him for Motor on Dec 11th 2007. I waited patiently until the beginning of Janruary . Finally he told me I was to meet his driver in Pensacola @ 6:30 on a saturady morning to pick up my Motor. When I got to Pensacola I kept trying to get in touch with him to no avail. I kept driving east and was almost to Jacksonville when he finally called me. Well for some strange reason My motor was Impounded down In Key West by the police and There was no way to get it released until Monday. He convinced me to turn around as bad as I wanted to see this guy Face To Face. A week later I finally requested my money Back again to no avail. His answer to me was he spent it all on rebuilding my motor.Jan 8th I finally saw the motor for the first time. I installed the motor on my boat and had a check engine light on the motor. Called him and he told me to bring it to dealer and hook up to computer. So I did they informed me that there was a bad sensor in the water separator and the #3 injector was unplugged. They also recommended in letting them run a compression check on the motor before running it. I called Outboardrebuild.com and informed what the dealer found and there recommendation he said for me to run the motor it was fine.
Out of pocket this cost me $168.00 He will reimburse me.

So I did and it blew up within 10 minutes or so. He said I ran it to hard or whatever and came and got the motor. He kept the Motor for several more weeks . He found they had left a piece of piston in the block . I finally got the motor back mid march put the motor on the boat had a fuel leak on #2 injector. I had to buy a head which I bought from Monty This cost me $325.00 out of my pocket .
Went to Toledo Bend with boat had a plug blow out of cyinder head from not being tightened. Had to helicoil the head cost me $228.00 Plugs were never indexed. Motor was never broke -In I had to do that my self. Nothing was ever as he said.

Did he take care of me well Let me just say I have never been reimbursed for 1 dime I have spent, I went through a nightmare with him trying to get something I paid for. I have my motor now yes and yes it seems to be a strong motor but I am not comfortable with it one bit. I had to put new thermostats in the motor they were never changed. The lower unit oil was never changed I had to tighten bolts that were never tightened I will never buy from them again period. I did not want to deal with what I did and would not wish it on my worst enemy.

Let me ask you this would you have accepted a motor that came to you layed in the back of a pickup truck full of sand with another motor laying on top of it when you thought you bought the motor in the description?

Well that is how I received my motor from him Both times. Not very professional.

    Re: Monty Racing (bear21211)

Whew, I stand corrected, and I don't blame you for your feelings a bit!!!. I know the capabilities of that motor, and if it's finally right you should be able to depend on it. Good luck!!
