Question about E-TEC warranty and service....

hey everyone, been a long time since I've posted last. My engine has had no problems whatsoever. I've got the E-TEC 150 with 170 hours on it. Being a bit anal, I decided to not wait until 300 hours for my first service on the engine. I just had it performed at my local dealer. He replaced all of the plugs, filters, lower unit oil, and impeller.
My question is... are any of these things covered under the Evinrude warranty? I still have one year remaining on my 3 year factory warranty. None of the items were replaced due to being broken or anything. They were replaced purely by choice as preventive maintenance. However, with a 640 dollar bill, I'd love if some of it fell under warranty service somehow!

$640 sounds a might high unless other work and parts were done to the boat. Of course, some places charge over $100 per hour now.

You could post the itemized bill and let us pick it apart for you.

All the parts you listed are consumables and not warranty items unless they failed before their time.

my marina charges 115 per hour in labor. they had 3.5 hours total written down. parts and everything only amounted to about 160 bucks of the entire bill.

Had the 3-year service done on my 90 last fall. New plugs, flashed the computer, changed fuel filter (warranty recall), changed lower unit oil.

$140.00 at my dealer in Wisconsin.

Just got my 90 back from the dealer:

    $70 for the computer diagnostics
    $86 for parts
    $210 Labor 3hrs @ $70 each

    $366 total

And that included $35 for the install of a used Evinrude check gauge that was quoted as "installed" so I am not sure if that showed in the labor line or parts.

yeah, it's starting to appear that labor charges in other parts of the country are MUCH less than here in Key West.
