    need help on idle

I have a 98 Johnson Venom 200 that i just purchased on a Stratos 201 pro elite.. seem that the motor will not stay running at idle.. if i give it just a little throttle she run fine.. Also at wot it runs fine... is there an idle adjustment that maybe needs tweaked? Motor is also in a breakin period after having all new pistons and carbs replaced...

Yes loose the 7/16" lock nut on the adjusting screw on the upper throttle linkage arm. Turn the screw 1 full turn clockwise and tighten the lock nut. Mention this to your rebuilder as he may have to tweak the idle timing if he didn't set it up with engine backpressure.

Re: need help on idle (jrc27)

Took it out today and was real funny.. idle was bad most of the time but did idle decent once in awhile.. Todays problem was bogging down on takeoff. Would go hammer down and it petered out a bunch of time. took about 5 minute to actually get it to take... Could this possibly be timing? Should i check to see if roller is not touching? Is my motor 60 or 90 degrees?

If you are intent on repairing/maintaining your motor please purchase a service manual from your local BRP dealer. Yes the 200 Venom is a 90 * motor. The adjustment screw is half way up the upper linkage arm.

If you have messed with that one, you have either raised or lowered your base timing, which in affects the sync and link as well...... as CM said, better go get ya a manual......:)
