    2200 hole shot/prop

I need a little help on my new setup. I have a 2000 2200 and a 2011 250 pro XS I had Mark work my 26 temptest for my 250XB and with my new 250 pro XS I have lost about 2.5mph and am running a little over 6000. The hole shot needs help on a full load and I don't have trim tabs. I also want to get the RPMs down a bit. I'd love to run back around 81 mph(I'm at 78.5) but a good tournament prop is key. I'm pretty good at trashing these props every now and then so I don't want to spend a grand on one either. The dealer I bought my new motor from will sell me a brand new Fury for $450, if that is an option.
Any chance there is a prop that will get me there or am I asking too much from a single prop? I'll be putting the boat away for the season in about 3 weeks and won't get it back out til April so I have some time to find one....

    Re: 2200 hole shot/prop (JWgambler)

if you are really running what you claim, YOU'D BETTER KEEP AND BE HAPPY...
i've got a worked 27 tempest(1 plug, 2 open PVS) on my 2100/250 pro xs and loaded with gas and full livewells, im 5850 and 78.1...trim tabs needed for decent hole shot...
empty i've seen 6000 and 81.....no trim tabs needed

i have not run my stock 27 trophy or my dad's worked 27 fury for comparison, but the tempest is pretty solid...

Re: 2200 hole shot/prop (low slung cruiser)

I am running what I stated but without full livewells but otherwise tournament loaded. It was in July with 80degree water. I haven't tried to run it that hard now that the water is back in te 50s The reason I am questioning it is I ran 82.5 gps with a light load with my XB. It ran about 81.5 after I had Mark work it but the hole shot improved. Now I have a new motor and am looking for advice or if it is even possible to get back to where I was with the XB.
I'm not just throwing BS numbers out there to try to impress people who know what these boats run anyway. I only gave my wot speed to give a little more info.

WOW...you read WAY TOO deep into the "COMMENT"...
but to try and advise, without the TABS, you are gonna have a tough time getting a 27 out of the hole once you put water in the livewells...I'd definately try you a WORKED 26 FURY...
it will come out of hole pretty good and give you some 27's #'s....

Sorry about that Cruiser I've seen too many threads go the way of "no way you ran that" and didn't want it to go there. I do realize those are higher than a lot of guys have seen but they are honest as my Humminbird.

well...the bottom line is that the xs is about 2 mph slower than an xb....the bravo is a great prop for the 2200, but you will have to spend some money to get it right....i would really look at a razor 4 blade from mark croxton..its a bad azz prop, that usually runs real strong straight out of the box....and is very reasonably priced....it will help your holeshot problems also...i would think a 26 pitch would work, as they turn kind of stiff...call mark and get his opinion....

JW before 21xdc, blue steel, and cowtrimmer hop in here... Since you don't have the trim tabs, I would look into a 28 Bravo 1, with dual pvs holes done by Mark. The hole shot is the best of any prop mentioned above. You will lose speed, 3-5 mph, but you will not be touched out the hole...

You can get your numbers back where they were... but if you get your hole shot down to where you like it, you will be able to have a great base to work from!

Also keep in mind that you've added weight to the rear of a gambler without tabs. Holeshot will be sacrificed! However I think you may can get the top number back.

Re: 2200 hole shot/prop (Matt Mc)

I have heard a lot about the Bravo and I talked to Mark a bit about it when I first worked that temptest. I'll also look for a Razor. Like I said I have some time to find a good deal so I'll keep an eye out for either. Thanks for the help from everyone. If anyone else wants to chime in, thanks in advance

    Re: 2200 hole shot/prop (JWgambler)

With your TM gear case I would recommend the following:

28 - 29P Hydromotive QIV-X (large Barrel) I used to run a 29P with a strong 250XS that had a great hole shot. Expensive Prop.

    28 - 30P Bravo I (I used to run a 30P when I had a strong 250XS) Likes a TM LU does not like a HPDI LU

25 - 26P Razor 4 (I'm running a 29P original style right now with pretty good hole shot, just bought a new style 27P that I will try in a couple weeks, I hope it will be enough pitch.)

I believe you would need dual PVS holes in any of these props to dial in for best results.

I have 2000 2200 with a 300 hpdi and the best prop so far for my hole shot is a 26 fury. With 2 guys and full tournament load with live wells full. Try if you get a chance. Don

Try a little help from a hydrofoil. Cheap and really fixes the sluggish holeshot problem. Now, the purists on here will disagree, and it might look a lillte funky to you, but your holeshot will pease you. I can run on plane at 2200 rpms if necessary.

Try to get your hands on a 26 Fury, you may need to work it but I bet you will be impressed with it stock. And just fyi they run about a pitch stiffer.

    Re: (t_nipper_74)

Again thanks for all the help. I'm looking for a Bravo or Razor it sounds like. What hub size do I want? I've got a buddy with a big Checkmate with a 28 Bravo Lab he says he'll sell cheap cause he's building his motor. Would the lab mean anything if it needs to be worked for my boat anyway? (not sure the exact meaning of lab other than expensive either....)
Otherwise I'm looking for a good buy on a one of the 2 props above. Soft water is gonna be a memory in a few short weeks so I have until April to find and build one
