    Overheating

I have a 2000 Johnson 225HO and have a bad time with the weeds plugging up my water intakes. Anyone no of a weed guard or anything that might help out. Not bad on my home water but vacation in Ont. is a big problem.

A friend of mine had a 2000 225 HO ,mine is a 225DI we both when encountering weeds and see the wp drop would stop and shift into reverse ,blip the throttle to clear weeds. However once in a while in the channel running wot you will pick up something around the l/u and if you're not watching, get an overheat alarm. Nature of the beast, I don't know or haven't heard of any fix except to watch the wp gauge on weedy or trashy water.

What is the best way to clean these out - not the screen but the insides?

On my old Merc, I used compressed air. On my 225 HO, I use a piece of weedwhip line. If that doesn't clear it out, then I take off the pee hole housing and run the motor until all the crap comes out.
