Would anyone know if the gold finish on the steel hardware (hand rails, cleats, vents) can be easily removed rather than replacied ?? e.g. acetone, wet sand . . . .???

I dunno man but the rails around my consoles show their years too (95)
But I'd rather have them redone than remove the gold
We are all born Democrats-But some of us grew up
I have a 94 that has gold trim. I had to remove the gold finish on the hand rails because they were looking bad, I used a wad type metal polish. I think it was "never-dull" or something like that(walmart). The gold came off with a little effort, harder in the tight spots. The hand rails were bad but the side molding is still gold and looks OK(in fact it would not come off). With the gold removed, the boat still looks good. I figure the hand rails still match the rims/fenders![]()

As far as I know, it's polished stainless under the gold and the gold doesn't hold up all that well; I'll eventually be polishing it off mine one of these days.![]()
