Yeah I have a 2015 platinum card that I update regularly and mine looks really detailed like this too. He said its the same card he's had for 5 years and it worked fine in his hds-8 Gen1.

So the card worked fine in the HDS 8 then he switched to a Gen 2 Touch and now the card isn't correct. That's odd.
Have him check the SonarCharts and see if it's highlighted or not. I'm guessing that's not it, or better yet, not possible but just curious if it'll give him the option. My suggestion after that would be for him to trade the card toward a new Navionics Updates Card. Complimenting what Wayne mentioned, the new Kentucky maps are excellent. The Updates card is a Navionics + card but it is only $99 compared to $199 as long as you unlock the card with an older Navionics card, or a competitor's card.
Outside of that, I'd make sure the Gen 2 Touch is completely up to date with the most recent update.

I just bought and installed Navionics + on a Gen2 9-Touch unit. My question is how do I determine what the various user chart details are under the menu area for the chip. Example: you can select what to display on your chart like "drying line, light sectors, spot sounding, etc... Where do I find definitions as to what these selections are so I can best determine if I should select them or not based on my use? I have tried searching this thread but couldn't find what I was looking for. I have also searched the Navionics website for help but to no avail. Can someone point me in the right direction please?
Turn on all the details.
If you want definitions, download the nautical chart notes and symbols here:

Thanks but I was more referring to this menu: what are these things? I'm asking to help reduce screen clutter and free up more memory but I cannot determine what the items are since no description is provided. Simply saying select them all does me no good. Thanks for the chart notes however.

Okay thanks.
My question involves the phone/tablet app. I want to do sonarcharts live, but noticed that on my android phone that it won't let you zoom in very close at all. 0.06 miles was the closest. I remember the old app before they changed it would let you zoom way in. Anyone else have this problem, or is it a phone app issue? Anyone with a tablet know how far you can zoom in? Just want the best setup for live charting but the phone setup isn't real impressive.

I have the Navionics Mobile App on two Android phones, two Android tablets and an iPad.
The iPad max zoom is 154'
One Android tablet max zoom is 95'
One Android table max zoom is .01 mile--that one has not been updated to add Sonar Charts Live.
The Android phone max zoom is 136'

Guess it's time to knock the dust off the Samsung tablet! Thanks for the info!

I can get 100 feet on my android powered tablet
A few weeks back I took a family vacation up to the in-laws cabin in northern Minnesota. I took it easy, went fishing a few hours in the early morning and then took my wife out for a booze-cruise in the evening. (Perfectly legal in Minnesota FYI) all the while, I was logging sonar through Navionics SonarCharts LIVE on my IPad.
Ive never had any mapping for one side of the lake until now. Check this out!

Kimmer, I suggest you do. Just make sure it's in the summer dude....
I have a Gen3 9 and 7, Point one and a new Navionics Hot Maps Platinum card. My question is; can I use my pc to develop trails and waypoints and then load to my Gen 3 by a data card? I have seen the Navionics web app but find no ways to do this.

If we concentrated on the really important stuff in life, there would be a shortage of fishing poles
The Navionics Web App is not interactive yet.
You can do that with Google Earth.
Trails would be Paths on GE. You draw the Path and then convert it to a Lowrance Trail to load to the unit.
I used the Path feature to create an outline of a lake that had no zero line on a map card--new lake-- for my Humminbirds.
I have also used it to draw submerged roads and saved those as Humminbird Tracks.
Been a while since I did the conversion from GE Path, so I don't remember that part of the procedure.
This is the lake outline done with GE Path that I used before the Navionics Sonar Charts program started:
