I have a 97 Stratos with a 150 Intruder on it that I'm considering repowering. Is there any cost benefit in sticking with another Evinrude? Will anything on my boat still be used? Will it need a new instrument cluster and other parts?

If you switch engine brands, there will be some costs as far as control box, maybe a gauge or 2 and oil tank. Not sure what else.

You will save by keeping everything Evinrude. The only thing you will need is probably just a new oil tank. Everything else is compatible and won't require changing. I repowered a '99 Ficht to a '06 ETEC.
Let's see what the guys might add...Good luck!

You wont even need the complete oil tank just a sender kit and clean the oil tank.
if you switch brands you will need a lot, wiring .cables, oil tank.key switch, prop,a shifter box, couple of guages and some labor involved changing it all,app 1500 in cost stay with the evinrude you wont be sorry
I repowered from a 1996 Johnson 150 to a 2007 Etec 150. Used same controls and guages. Easy repower to stay with the Evinrude. Big improvement in top end speed, fuel economy and much less noise. Go with the etec! You won't be sorry. BTW, we have a Mercury Verado in the family. Not impressed with the fuel economy (especially at higher RPMs) and much louder than my etec.
