Add Tach to 30HP 1991 Evinrude

I have a 1988 - 1991 30HP evinrude. No model number, but it is a short shaft with electric start. If I want to add a Tach to the setup what to I need to add. Currently, I have a side binacle with key. Here is a photo of the binacle, I will try to get a better one tonight along with possible model number.

On the rear of the control below the keyswitch is a 3 prong rubber plug that accepts a harness for the tach. Just plug the harness into the control and wire it to the tach. Dealer will have both the harness and tach....

If you purchase a BRP tachometer you will need to set the tach to the 5 pulse setting on the back of the tachometer.

If you purchase an aftermarket tach you will have to follow the tach manufacturers instructions for the pulse setting.
