    ProAir is Awesome!!!

If you did not know already, the pro air is a great accessory. This last weekend I was involved in the Paralyzed Veterans Association(PVA) Capitol Clash, Potomac River. The temps on both days topped 100 and the water(river) temps were in the 89 range, plus or minus 1. We had a brief about how to keep the fish alive and all that, so it helped most people. Before trailering to the launch, I sprayed down the livewells to rinse out any remaining debris and dust and let them drain out to the launch. I did not fill the wells all the way until I needed to, after the first fish. I first placed about 6 inches in the wells to start the day. The water was in there for 6 hrs and I had run the pro air for 10 minutes every hour and for the 20 minute run back to the weigh in. The biologist checked the wells and it was at 85 degree water and with a percentage o2 content that was 4% higher than the average content of the river. The fish were quite lively as they were being weighed in and even the biologist said that he wished everybody had a system like that. He said that the fish would not be shocked by the 85 degree water going back to the river, because it was close enough to the deep waters of the area and the higher o2 will help them get over it faster. I guess it would be a shock enough being jerked out of the home and moved without a forwarding address, but keep the comfort level up for the fish is better than just giving them a ride!!?? I like the smaller bubbles that this system puts out, even smaller than the portable units the state was letting people borrow at the boat pull out. This system is worth having, that is for sure!

The proair is great in the hot summer days it really keeps the fish alive. Thats why charger has it patented because it works.

Ntimad8rs, thanks for the info! It is a great feature, I have not lost a fish ever in mine when I have ice in the cooler!

When in hotter temps, no ice in pro air cooler, I have lost some when running recirc itself constant!

    Re: ProAir is Awesome!!! (Backbassin)

I have used mine before but I really couldn't tell alot of difference in water temp. The very first time I used it, I thought it was great but the water wasn't very hot. The other day I put three bags of ice in my cooler at about 5pm. I had the first fish in the livewell by 6pm. That is when I started the system. The water never really felt cooler than the 90 plus degree lake water. The system seemed to be working as I could hear the water running through the lines. Maybe I am not doing something right.

try plugging the drain hole and letting the water in the chest fill up a little,it will get colder. One thing is you dont want the water in the livewell 10 to 15 degrees colder than the lake water it will shock the fish.2 to 3 degress cooler makes a world of difference to the fish, and you will not be able to really feel the difference with your hand.
just rememeber you dont want to freeze the fish just make them less stressed.

Maybe it was working after all. I was looking for a pretty big difference. Also, there wasn't alot of water in the cooler. The ice hadn't melted yet. My fish were okay except they did need fizzing. Oh well, I'll be ready tomorrow. Thanks!
