Tomahawk area - looking at a job there. Lived in the UP for a long time before moving to Washington, just curious is anybody who lives around there has any info or advice.

Do you like to ice fish? snowmobile? snow ski? I think there are more winter months than summer months.
Are you married? If not, I would get hitched before you move up there....LOL...might not be many choices if you know what I mean....
In my opinion, it is a nice place to visit but no way could you get me to move there. Fishing may be good but will want to brush up on your regulations as far as the length of the seasons. If you lived in the UP, this might be right up your alley?
Its a pretty area, with a pile of lakes. With that said its also a major tourist area with a lot of out of state money. Cost of living is probably pretty high due to large amounts of out of state money in that area.
Winter starts in October, and runs through the beginning of May most years. Good deer hunting, bear hunting, and grouse hunting.

Not concerned about the weather, I use to live 4 hours north of there on Lake Superior... Anything south of there was considered the "Banana Belt"![]()

wayoop were you planning on being in the country or closer to shopping and LIFE? Im from Eagle River, and because of the economy their are some Stupid deals on Lake houses and really some deep discounts, like everywhere....Awesome for fishing,hunting,sleeping and eating, but you better have your toys.....oh and the women, well uh, Cheese, Fish Fry, Cheese, Miller, Leinenkugels,Pabst, Old Milwaukee,Strohs,Ice House, well at least their warm and plump.....Seriously you will have a blast, they dont get 220-inches of snow like in Marquette but you'll feel right at home, and theirs even a Pasty shop in Rhinelander
