I know the feeling. Plan and enjoy the process. You gonna learn a ton and will end up with a sweet, sweet rig. Keep active here. I've got tons to learn as well with something new. That's kinda a fun too.

in post about Panoptix the discussion is if one Panoptix will do the typical structure scan type images - so far it don't look hopeful... so that means

    Garmin GT51M-TM Transom Mount Transducer
    Garmin GT51M-TM 12-Pin 600W CHIRP (Mid-Band CHIRP 80-160kHz) and 500W (CHIRP 260/455kHz) DownVu/SideVu Transom Mount Transducer. Built-In Temperature Sensor. Compatible with Garmin GPSMAP 7600xsv Series and GSD25.

    GAX12223
    Your Price
    $549.95
    $1500 Panoptix + this guy????

    Lordy !!!

If you're fishing 100' or less the GT50 will do which will save you some $. The Panoptix PS31 can't handle more than 20-25mph so that's why they show it on the trolling motor. The PS30 doesn't have the same warning on the website. Either way I think you're correct RangerSam. You will still need the standard transducer.

I agree with Diel on this, the 50 is the way to go.
as for the PS30 the warning is there because of twisting in the bracket over 20 mph. The 31 has a different and more robust mounting of the transducer.
For the bow there are many choices on what you want to view, DI, traditional, chirp and sidevu or all of it at once.
Their transducer selection guide on the website has to be the easiest one to find your transducer

No joke. The PS31 transducer alone weighs 1.8 lbs. That's about the same weight as a TM265 transducer from Airmar, which is huge. Looks like with mounting hardware it goes up to almost 3 lbs.

The PS30 doesn't seem to have a bracket for a trolling motor installation. Looks like they want you to install that on the transom no matter what. So it looks like running a PS31 on the trolling motor and a GT50 with a PS30 on the transom would be the set up. Gonna need lithium batteries to offset all that weight...hahahahaha.
