    lowerunit oil

    i have a 115 johnson faststrike 1995 model J115GLEO S03892308 Just drained lower unit oil and want to know if Quaker State SAE 80W - 90 gl5 is a good gear lubricant for the lower unit. Thanks for the information.

    hello,i just changed mine i have the same motor,i used the HPF-HR OMC lube,this what the pro's told me to use,goodluck, MINE IS 1996 115 FASTSTRIKE GLEDR MOTOR

    Automotive gear oil is not suited for outboard gearcases!!!! Automotive is made to run in a vented system, outboard is made to run in a sealed system and has antifoaming additives. I would run at least the HPR-xr.
