    3 blade vs 4 blade

I have a 99 Champion 191 w/200hp mercury efi, currently have 25p trophy,3 1/2 inch below pad.All I can get out of it is 62 mph and pulling someone on tube holeshot stinks.I am thinking about a 25p tempest plus. Can anyone give me some input that has same type setup.

siskiyoucrash has a 98 191 with a 200 Opti (i think?) running the 25p Trophy to his liking. You might try PM'ing him if he doesn't appear here first.

How many R's are you turning with the Trophy?
If you can peg the tach with the Trophy I'd try a 25 Tempest, if not I'd bet a 23 Tempest could be faster than the 25 Trophy. More R's, less slip.
I don't think you're looking to gain a lot either way, maybe a couple mph.
I will defer to the Champ experts, but a 25 Trophy with 1.87s at 5600 R's will only be mid 60s no matter hull what it's on.

Pat and others steered me right on the Tempest. It does nice on these hulls.

Ya a 25 tempest will be at least mid to upper 60s on that boat.

Do you have a Trophy plus? Holeshot with a 4 should be better than a three. I run a trophy on my 203, and holeshot is instant. I know I give up a little in the mph, but I love the instant response when navigating big waves on Lake Ontario.

Stinks is a powerful word...let's find out why.

If you've got four people, 200 lbs of ice and pops, 350 lb sister in law on the tube and wonder why holeshot stinks?

Does it stink when you're ready to fish?
    62 is at what rpms?
Trophy or trophy plus? Plus will have the removable PVS plugs, how is it configured now?

You have a fine rig, let's find out why it stinks....

What I can tell you for sure is that with all the talk about props and speed I finally turned on the GPS on the new HDS5 and got a speed reading ,,5400 rpm at 2300 ft. elev. in 90+ heat was all I could get out of the OPTI,,it was HOT! But even at that I was getting 64.9 on the GPS! I was pretty happy with that as at lower elev. and cooler weather it will turn that prop to the limiter at 5750. Stock Opti not a Proxs. Set on the transom in the third hole. That was with 25 gallons in the gas tank livewells dry and my Wife and I in the boat. I can live with it very nicely! The prop haas been worked by Phils Props in Redding Ca. By a guy who is no longer with them!

my holeshot with a 3 blade prop is as good if not better then any similar boat setup i have ever had with a 4 blade. I would consider it a very fast holeshot, maybe not blistering but fast enough gettin on plane.

8" jackplate,5800 rpm,25p trophy with just me in the boat. When I bought the boat it had a sticker from a prop shop on the trailer, the prop could have been tweaked in a bad way.Only 62mph max.As for the sister-in-law ,I want even let her get close to the boat.

    Re: (partman)

if the 200 EFI is a 2.5 liter like mine drop some pitch and get the rpms up..........
better holeshot, maybe a few more mph but definatly more fun to drive...23 Tempest would be were I would try to start....if its not already ditch the oil injection and should for 6K
