A little repair and Maintenance work

Last weekend I was tied up to a dock bow first. I had my power pole holding my back in place. Well a big wave comes along and the bow slams down on the dock pulling one of the rivets out on the bow of the boat. I took it out and plan recaulking it down with tape until it dries. Well I starting looking closer and the caulk all the way around the bottom of my bumper is looking bad, so I pulled it all off. It wasn't hard at all due to it being 10 years old. I just never thought to check it. You may want to check yours out. That's what helps keep water out between the hull and cap. I'm going to do a full reseal all around the transom as well while I'm at it.

It's also time to replace the rope in my bumper. It's dried out and as you can see, gotten smaller. I started to pull it out but put it back until l get some new. Does anyone know what size rope that is?

Dad-gum crusier wakes have to sneak up on a ChamP while she's not looking & all hands tied behind her back to get a lick in... otherwise they know what's in for them on the open water....

I replaced the rope and re-screwed and caulked my rubrail this winter. I was suprised at how easily the stainless steel rubrail screws break off.

Why did you re-screw it? Did you have some broken or coming out? Just wondering.

The stainless screws snap really easy if overtightened, which is what it looked like happened at the factory. I used some Sika hull adhesive and put in each hole along with the cap/hull connection. Also, one thing for guys to be careful of is hitting the bow rub rail section on the bow roller on trailer when loading and unloading. This is an area that I caused some broken screws to appear. By the way, I got 3/8 rope at West Marine and it looks factory.
