Maybe a stupid question

Question # 1 OK after seeing the post on livewell pump question got me to thinking,( I know its dangerous) but the wall between the back of the livewell and the battery area, Can it be removed or does it have to be cut out?

#2 is the shutoff panel for the front and rear livewell says pull to close. If I leave them both in does it always get water to the front livewell. I want to shut off the front completely and use it for storage and cooler sometimes. Whats the best way to do this? Thanx

Should be removable.....

Remind us..model and year.

TX Champ should be able to advise on the livewell filling situation. There is defiinitely some way to use front one as storage, but he knows what to do..

Only when your down in the water and not on plane. They will empty (both of them) when you are running if you leave them open all the time.

So If I leave the front closed all the time , it won't fill when I turn on the pumps?

Re: Maybe a stupid question (foxman623)

Get some rubber expansion plugs that fit the openings in the livewell and install them with 3M 4200 sealer. That is the most foolproof way to make it dry without getting under the deck and removing everything.

That's odd that they wouldn't have separate valves. I always credit Champion for having thought of everything. I guess the worst case would be you have to add a valve to the line that feeds the front one. Also, there should be no reason to cut into your boat to replace a pump. There has to be a way to get back there, I would think.

Foxman, my 84 has a little access hole with a plate over it. I don't know if a previous owner made it .... I don't think so because there are also ones on each side of the boat (in the gas tank / battery area)

Pull to close the front drain. There should be a shut off on the spray arm inside the front LW. (original set up). If not you'll need to find a way to keep the pump from sending in water.

Re: Maybe a stupid question (Fish_hook)

Yes Roy J they do have seperate knobs by the drivers legs. Fishhook thanx for the reply. I have the valve shut off and didn't really want to close it off permanently to use it for a cooler during the summer. I'll shut off the front valve next time out and see how it does. Thanx.
The back pane3l does have an inspection hole but it's not big enough to really see anything and saw a pic of the panel opff on another post about the livewell pumps thread but don't see and screws to remove the hole panel.

Re: Maybe a stupid question (foxman623)

on my 201 the valve is bad so I put a rubber stopper in the drain of the front livewell and shut the valve on the spray head. that keeps it dry however sometimes when I reverse hard it will pop out the rubber stopper and get water in it. hope this helps
