    Wide body?

I've seen this term used on this forum several times. First, let me say that I'm a new Champ owner, not the boat (98 191 DCX Elite) but me. My last bass boat was a 1990 Cajun Elias Okeechobee, which I liked and it did pretty darn good in rough water. It didn't handle as good as my 191 does though.

I don't know which models are "wide body" but I'm assuming my 191 (92" beam) is among them?? I know earlier Champs were "narrow" (86" beam?) but don't know when they started getting "wide". I was guessing this arrived with the early "Elite" models??

So, what beam figures constitute "wide body"? What are the widest beams they've produced?

I have very little time in my boat so far, just bought it and it's already put away but from the little time I've had I'm very happy with the way it feels and am excited to get it out next spring. If the "wide body" offsets some of the famed Champ reputation of excellence in rough, for fishability, then I got exactly what I wanted. This boat still rides better than most I've been in and fishes great.

Aside from the "wide body" questions, how does my 98 191 fare in the history of Champ performance hulls?

A 92" beam back in the late 90's and very early 2000's was fairly wide but you are not cosidered a wide body. The newer ones have 95" beams and most carry the width further up towards the bow. That's a great hull you have there

The bold is something I was wondering about!! Thanks for your response!

Thank you! Glad to be a member of the Champion clan and also a member here. This site is really cool, tons of info and resources here.

Oh....there is one thing I need for this boat. The livewell drain valve doesn't open (though it does have pump out feature) and I assume replacing it is the easiest fix. Where is best place to order one?

Check with carol at C & O marine. They are a board sponsor here and were one of the biggest CHAMP dealers and they have a ton of parts for them.

Does it look like one of these? http://www.candomarineparts.com/Valves.html
