1992 Johnson 175 Faststrike. M# J175GLENC, Ser.# G03085016
Went out the other day and engine ran fine. used trolling motor for about 1 hour went to start and it took a few times turning over to start then when I went to take off it bogged down and shut off. Raised motor to see if there was grass around the prop and there was nothing. switched to the other gass tank and it ran fine. What could this be? something in the motor or the fuel tank?

Had a similar problem with a 05 Mercury XR6. Mercury called it "heat soak" and removed the "back flow jet". Seems to have helped a little but I still have the problem from time to time.
Just my opinion off course, But if it cleared up when you swapped tanks,
fuel restriction on that tank could be culprit. Check anti- siphon valve on that tank.
