waht are you looking at a 193 or a 184 pat told me the best performer is a 184 my first boat was a 85 184![]()
I am looking at a 1993 190DC 200Merc.
Pat should be along in a bit...if not tonight, then maybe tomorrow....
Bear in mind, the 190 is 19' with a 91" beam...and rated for 200 hp. The 184 is 18'4" with 86" beam...and is rated for 175hp. They will naturally handle differently. Pat can go into more detail...
And what does the 184 have on it for a motor? The 184's were very quick with the 150/175 power on them.
I can find it with either 150 or 175.
The 190 was the first of the slightly wider champs would bow hook on you if you let it get away from you it is a newer hull with a newer motor. The 184 is the older "tippy" champ but a great hull the power may be dated though. I believe the 184 went out of production in 1992 in favor of the 190.
Can you please explain bow hook on the 190 and tippy on the 184?
my 184 had 175 merc what great boat it is mine was also a quick one to loved it![]()
Better? Don't know, depends on what you want.
Different? Yes.
A 190 w/200 will run away from a 184/175, so if you want speed with a rated motor, get the 190.
The 184 is easier in really hard turning situations, the 190 will get a little loose, but for most people, you'll never see the difference.
The wide vs narrow argument can take all day, so we'll skip that...
Bottom line, go drive em both and buy what you like better.

Thanks for the advice. Its seems the 184's are getting hard to come by so it looks like a 190 for me. The 201's are the same way and the 202's are out of my price range. Thanks again. gegolden

That was the reason I bought my first 190 instead of a 184 way back in 1991.

I was so familiar with the 184 back then, when I switched to the 190, didn't like it much at all, too bulky, not as precise in handling.
So, I did the only logical thing the next year, hung a 200 on a 184 and bliss was again achieved.
