Re: What Hydraulic jack plate (Blue198)

I looked at Bob's and was looking for one i think that is selfcontained without holes going back in boat as space back there is limited on the Champ.I would like to know if there are any issues with these new Jack Plates ? Thanks

I have a T&H Altlas. I like it very much. It was very easy to install and is similar in design to a Bob's. I, like you, was looking for a self-contained unit. The great thing about an Atlas is that you can remove the pump quickly if it needs to be replaced and you don't have to remove the jackplate from the engine.

Re: What Hydraulic jack plate (BamaChamp198)

    Here's the real scoop....
Get the Bob's. I've rigged a LOT of hydraulic plates, all brands. Self contained, outboard pump, blah blah blah...

The self contained are indeed easier to rig.
The self contained are also junk, they cause nothing but grief.

I've had issues with every brand (especially dorkweiler and CMC) except Bob's, never once had one come back for any reason. Simple, rugged, dependable.

They all cost the same, so that makes it virtually a no brainer.

Pat, thanks i guess it's Bob's then one question where's the best place to locate the pump? I have battery charger, cranking batt, and fuel/ water filter right side , oil center, two trolling batterys left side. Thanks David

Mine is mounted in front of the oil tank just slightly to the left toward the troll batteries. Plenty of room,it's not all that big.
