    water in rod lockers??

My boat got rained on yesterday and had a bunch of water in the rod lockers? how I don't see how it would get in there. Any ideas? boat is a 2000 193 elite. It does have a recessed trolling motor tray but the hole is not even close to the lockers. Thanks ~~MATT

Re: water in rod lockers?? (Skip)

There have been a bunch of threads on this subject. I will try to locate and post a link. Basically, the drain hose for the recess (in some cases) was not long enough. Since the fronts of the rod lockers are open at the bow, if the drain hose does not lead to the bilge, water can be absorbed by the rod locker carpet. In some cases, it is just enough to dampen the carpet...in others, water collects. In the case of added recesses, they should be pulled out and a longer hose attached. No clue about what to do if it is a molded in recess.

Duane Harper posted pictures sometime back, which show the issue. I am not sure, but there may also be a drain hose from the pedestal base. Will have to check on that...

I had the same problems. UNTIL I put bricks under my left tire so it would level the boat out and I put a couple of bricks under the front jack wheel so the water has no chance to sit on the rod boxes. It worked for me...

Mine only gets wet when I'm on the water fishing and get caught in a shower or storm. At home it stays in the garage with my wifes car.

I had that problem also w/my last boat. I just made sure the the front wheel was jacked up nice'n high. Seemed to solve it. I do have to hand it to the Pro-Control people, however. The hose that came with mine is very long and gets down in the bilge. I just installed it this year, but I don't foresee water issues.

The item below might be a good addition to a boat trapping water.

To be perfectly honest: any boat would benefit.
