Champion Fuel Tanks and E-10 Ethanol Gas

I have a question regarding E-10 Gasoline and Champion Fuel Tanks. I recently received an email from Boat U.S. about winterizing your boat and E-10 Gasoline which included the paragraph below.

Fiberglass tanks beware: Ethanol is known to chemically react with many fiberglass fuel tanks, which can cause them to deteriorate and potentially fail. Unfortunately, unless your boat's manufacturer can confirm that your fiberglass tank was built to withstand ethanol, your only remedy may be to replace the tank with a non-reactive material such as aluminum.

Does anyone know the status of Champion Fuel Tanks and E-10 Gasoline.

We've had ethanol 10% for a good while here. I have had no issues...

Contact Champ customer service it you still have concerns. 615-494-2090

I wonder if Boat US was trying to help sell tanks....

I don't believe that the tanks are fiberglass in any of the ChampioN boats. I know none of the pre 2000 boats are fiberglass

If in doubt run a Yamaha 10 Micron fuel filter/water seperator. You gotta figure 10 micron is the same size filter used to clean up copy toner it should catch anything that could harm a injector etc... Cheap to replace.

I didn't know they ever put in a fiberglass tank in a bassboat.
