I caem back from fishing and saw a small broken cable on my motor. I never noticed it before and don't know it does. Anyone recognize it?

I got the picture so close its may be hard to tell where this is. Motor is trimmed up, this is on the right side. The thing at the top and top left side of the photo is where the shaft starts down from the motor.

If I see it right I believe its a small ground cable. Went out and looked at mine and thats what it appears to be.
Someone will know here for sure and what its for.

Yep, you are right. Technically it is a bonding cable from the swivel bracket to the steering arm to the engine block, so that all parts are at the same potential to prevent corrosion. You will also see one on the trim motor bolt to the stern bracket at the trim sender. From the sender another wire (green insulation) goes up to the motor ground.

Thats a relief. So I should be able to simply splice this together and it should still work the same?
