    Hull Polishing on my 203

    Hi Everyone,
I am cleaning my Champ and need some help.
How do you polish the underside of the boat when it's on the trailer.
I can get to the front but then the bunks get in the way.
I am a new Champ owner , just got this rig in Dec. its been sitting since then but now the warm weather is here.
I bought it here from Bryan in Mich. sweet boat
    I will post pics soon
    Thanks
    Paul

Congrats on your Champion, Paul! What model?

I don't polish under the bunks...At my age, I'm lucky I can reach any part of the bottom...

I have heard mixed reviews on waxing the pad of your boat. I think the majority of people who have the most experience with it say not to wax it. I have actually read that if you rough up the bottom with light sandpaper it will go faster. The roughness causes air to get underneath the hull making it less "sticky". I am not putting sandpaper anywhere near my boat, but that's what I hear.

I never really clean under the boat past the front deck. If I can't see it on the trailer, then I don't care.

I wouldn't wax the hull that sits on the bunks. I will slide too easily, and could give you trouble at the ramp... especially a steep ramp if you unhook the winch strap

I'm with the rougher pad theory

No sandpaper here either. But you are correct. Same reason your rig is faster in a slight chop than it is on glass smooth water....
