98 Champion 181 SC
98 Evinrude Intruder 150
I cant help you by telling you mine. cant remember.
but when i needed to know i asked a guy at the local dealership and he told me to look at the 1st couple of feet on each end for the #'s on the cables. I found mine by opening the back compartment and looking in the most uncomfortable positon possible..
hope that helps...
Yep -- should be printed on the existing cable if you can get under the console and read it... Otherwise, take a tape measure and bend it around from front to back and you can get a good estimate...
Hey Mixer!
I'd be very interested in your project of replacing your steering cables. I have a '95 Champion 181 SC. Very similar boat. It originally has a '95 150 Evinrude Intruder, but i have since put on a '03 150 Johnson (basically same motor). The steering cables are original. This past weekend the steering was so difficult at idle speed i needed two hands and extreme pressure to steer, it was basically impossible to navigate tight spaces at low speeds (like through docks and onto the trailer). On plane it is not as difficult to steer.
I'm considering replacing my steering cables. Have you started replacing yours? Did you find the correct length?
