    lowrance/mercmonitor/proxs question

Hey guys I have a question. I had asked Mr. weed bit I post here. I know he gets enough email as it is. What I sent:
    "Mr. Weed,
This question may be better suited for someone on the Lowrance board but I will ask you anyway. I have just had my 2nd fuel level dipstick or whatever it's called (maybe fuel level sender) go bad in as many years and I am wondering if since I have a merc monitor and one thing it displays is total fuel used ( and it can be reset) why can't I get it to display on my hds? The only option I see to display related to fuel consumption is fuel rate displayed in gph, which is next to useless in a bassboat. I want to see total fuel used. That way I can just fill the boat up and see how many gallons have been consumed total. I feel like that would be more accurate than the old gauge anyway. Thanks for all you do.
    Wesley"

    Engine serial:

    My mercmonitor:

Here is what I want to display on my hds. I don't care about gallons per hour. I want to know about total fuel used.

When I try to overlay the data here is the options I get. No total fuel used. I have been thru all of the options and I just don't see it.

And before somebody asks the reason I can't just look at the mercury gauge is because I'm installing an iPad that will mostly cover that gauge and I would like to show the data and mirror the graph onto my ipad thru my gofree. Thanks for the help.

    Wesley:

At the power-up screen on your MercMonitor- what LEVEL is displayed?

Fuel "used" is a Smartcraft Feature- and is not something normally displayed on NMEA-2000.

You can, however, transmit a fuel LEVEL, provided that a good signal from the Tank-1 sending unit is available to the engine.

I'm not sure what level, I will have to look tonight. As for the good signal part I have no idea what that means haha. I think I will just have to get by with out it.

Don is his "fuel used " on the Mercmonitor a PCM calculation without any input from the fuel tank level sender?

Must be, because it works on mine and I do not have a fuel tank sender on my MercMonitor.

    Yes it is.

"Fuel Used" is a computation based on the same information the PCM utilizes to supply the correct amount of fuel to the injectors. It does NOT require a fuel level sender connection.

Fuel FLOW or CONSUMPTION information is available on some screens of the Level-1 MercMonitor.

It is NOT, however, transmitted out on NMEA-2000 (THAT feature is only available on a Level-2 or higher).
