As some of you know, I run a 225HO. I was asked a question the other day regarding running out of fuel. Does it harm the engine upon start up? Do you take any precautions in order to refire the engine after refueling?

Nope, No Harm from running out of fuel, just refill the tank, prime the fuel primer bulb and start the motor, you will have a strange idle for a few seconds as the fuel system purges the air.
Now..You Know this was gonna happen, Can you not read a fuel guage?
No I ran out twice last year, just make suure to pump the ball before start up!
I ran out a couple of times when I was running a Blazer last year. It is the only boat I've owned that had dual tanks. Drove me nuts.

I should have know better than to ask this close to midnight and probably knowing The Man had a few Bud Lights under his rustbelt!
Seriously, a coworker that owns one asked me to pose the question, since the dealer he bought it from told him under no circumstances should he run it out of fuel because he would have to bring it in for special priming and start up. I told him his dealer was on crack!!!

Ya Miguel, I had a friend one time ran a diesel out of fuel too!!!!
Dam, if someone runs out of gas with an Etec they got bigger issues than restarting! Hell, I'm still running on the tank of fuel I put in during a trip to Santee Cooper back in March....
Miguel, you know I had to pick just a little.
I think I would let your friend know that dealer may need to view the Essentials 4 distance learning DVD.
Grant your right, he must have a leak in the boat fuel tank.
I was talkin to a friend tonight and telling them that I need to run the boat this weekend to burn that gas out....I laughed my arse off as I also said I never thought I'd bi^&h about not burning enough fuel....
