I have a HUMMINBIRD 597 down imaging unit with gps and it works great on my Bass boat. I wanted to use it on my Kayak so I purchased a second location install kit from Bass pro...It included the wiring mount and a puck transducer so I mounted it on the yak...I used a mason jar ring and created a bed of goop right under the seating area and stuck the ducer in there... I tried it out today and it didn't work. there was no down imaging screen and the depth always read 1 foot. The regular sonar was grainy and unreadable ... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...I guess I need to take it all apart and start all over...I spent alot of time installing the kit and I thought I did it properly but I guess not....
