    Cajun questions

Hey guys, hope ya don't mind a gal in the forums... anyway, I got a couple of questions about the new (old) Cajun I just purchased. It's a 1994 Cajun 1950, and I can't for the life of me figure out how to drain the livewells. Tried all the switches that stated such and no go. My other question is concerning the planing of the boat when 3/4 to full throttle. The boat leans to the left, motor is all the way down. What could be the cause of this? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys,

Check your trim tab on the back of the cavitation plate, just above the prop. Make sure it's straight. In theory you can adjust it to take out the prop torque, but in practice I've found the best way is to keep them straight and use engine trim to counteract the torque. As you trim the engine "up" or "out," the torque will decrease until it gets to a point (very high) where it kicks back in. Bump the trim down at that point.

Oppps. I just re-read your post. When at 3/4 to full throttle, the engine needs to be trimmed "up" or "out." What you're feeling is the prop being buried in the water. Trim the engine up/out and you'll feel the steering start to go "neutral" and it will feel almost like power steering. You can overtrim if you have the engine mounted too high so be careful. Do you have a trim gague on your dash?

There should be a lever, probably around the throttle or the drivers seat somewhere that opens and closes the livewell. Or there may be only manual plugs. At one time Cajun refused to use the remote livewell drains because frankly they're a pain in the butt. A manual plug gets your arm wet, but it always works. If it's a remote, there will be a lever marked open/closed and it will work like a lawn mower throttle cable.

Thanks found the trim tab and low and behold it was waaayyyy off. Straightened it out and it glides through the water. and as for the livewels they have a mind of their own. The one in the front doesn't drain, the one that is not being used for storage in the rear won't stay full and the open/close throttle cable look alike appears to be rusted out. So, I think the only solution is an ice chest, or two, one for beer one for fish. Thanks guys...

I've got a 1995 Cajun 1950 Travis Ed. and I have a cooler/ice chest in front of the passenger seat, do you have the same? It's got what looks like a glove compartment door to get in it, but it's a great place for all your cold beverages !

I never knew the livewells had a remote drain...I've always used the manual plugs. Where is the open/close throttle located? I may have it, but never noticed it!

Good luck with your boat, I love mine!

Not all boats have remote drains. If they do the levers are most likely around the drivers seat somewhere. Near the throttle usually but not always. They'll be in a panel clearly marked "livewell" something. Control, center, something like that. They'll look like an old automobile heater control, or a lawn mower throttle. Push one way to open and one to close.

If you got them open so the water goes in and out, frankly I'd forget them and get a drain plug to put in the bottom of the well. Old school but it always works.

I think I do have a plunger handle thing down by my right foot, but never use it or really looked at it.....I've got the drain plugs..no school like the old school!
