Variation in hull weight?

Reading the thread about the new hull Blazer is coming out with and the fact that Blazer is a "chopper gun" hull I was wondering?

How much differences is there in weight from boat to boat? I would imagine it is hard to get the exact same amount of material in every boat. Has anyone seen hulls weighed and can speak to the difference? Is there enough difference between hulls to make a big difference in speed?

On a Blazer, it was 50-100 lbs. Now they are weighing some of the hulls to help keep them a consistent weight. A 202 weighes about 1350-1450 lbs. and a 210 about 1500-1600 lbs. 04' thru 06' were some of the heaviest hulls built at Blazer, and some of the hulls had issues due to excess resin. It could make a 1-3 mph difference in speed. I know for a fact that my and GE's hulls were weighed.

Mine too. I think my 03 was lighter. Guess I will never know.

I know both the 02's i had were fast...had to be a little lighter. The factory is paying closer attention to the weights now.

I think that motors can make more of a difference in speed numbers. Motors can be +/- 10% on hp, so on a 250, that means it can make between 225-275 hp, that's 50 hp or about 5 mph.

Is the manufacturing process the sole reason for the extra weight compared to other manufacturers or is Blazer just making them a little heavier by design. Simply to compinesate for heavier motors, better fishing plateform, more stable at rest? I find it a little hard to believe that if they wanted to they could, make a 1000lb 20ft hull.

1. Yes, its the manufacturing process.
2. No, but rounded top cap added weight compared to the flat top cap models.
3. If Keith wanted too, sure they could, but Blazer is just not in that game or have they ever been due to lack of warranty and liabilty reasons on building light weight boats. Blazer has always been in between the really go-fast rigs and true die hard tourny rigs.

I'm glad someone has started this talk.. I know that mine is about 225-250 lbs more then it should weight( took it to the scale when I had all the motor issues) and that does = - 2-3 mph.. its a bum deal when you spend 40 g's on a boat for speed and its says 1250lbs on the website... and you get something that is that much over that in weight... I hope they can get a grip on it, cause I will say this.. the next one I will have the hull weighed with my own eyes.. I cant even come off plan with out water coming over the back... much different then the 06 210 I had and it had a yamaha that weighed 40lbs more on it....

The 210 never advertised at 1250 pounds...they were 1450.

You can see the rod locker lights through my top cap(from the cleats to the consoles)at night with the lights on.(02 210)
