Got some friends in Frisco Texas that downsized, kind if a fluke deal though, out of the blue a couple knocked on thier door and asked them if they would be interested in selling their home. Made an offer they couldn't refuse so they bought a smaller home nearby and pocketed a nice profit. They both said they even hated the thought of packing and moving but in the long run it was worth it.

Enjoy the big house. The first night back in our downsized house (1800 sq feet smaller) we were laying in bed looking up at the ceiling chuckling at how our old bathroom was the size of our now bedroom. It's all relative and was nice while we had it.

    Count your blessings.

I downsized when they left after college. Only problem is they came back home and brought more. Honestly, it is good problem to have…lol.

Just 2 of us now and we have a 3/2 and it's all we need , one bedroom set up for grand kids . Small yard and low utility bills . Just have no interest in a large house . Having the house paid for is nice also.

My idea of downsizing the house--900 square foot house and a 9000 square foot shop! Not so sure the wife is really up on that idea.

When I moved back to Indiana from Bama, I downsized my house, but upsized my garage! I have a 1600 sq ft. house now. I kind of wish it was a bit bigger and a bit nicer, but its okay. The important thing is the big garage!

We moved from the golf course house to the house on the lake w/a boathouse. This makes getting to go fishing much easier. The golf course house started out at $205k but the War Dep't. has dropped that price to $170k (I suggested She throw in the Maui timeshare but what do I know..) I found that if You give away most of Your crap there is less for someone to carry/load/move and works great for "attachment issues"

    Enjoy Your new house..

It was obvious my company was downsizing, and I was two steps ahead of them downsizing houses and moving to a place with low cost of living and the lowest property taxes around. 5 years later, they retired everyone over 55 years old.

We moved from a swim-tennis community to having the Tennessee River in our front yard. Then the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail built two championship 18 hole golf courses on our new street.

It's tough being on one of the premier smallmouth fisheries and with two of the greatest golf courses anywhere. But somebody's got to live here.

In the process now. Sold 4400 sq. on 2 acres in Ca. three months ago. Close on an older 1500sq, with 120 acres in Lead Hill, AR Friday, will add about 900 sq to fit the kitchen has an old but functional 3000 sq. shop. Five ponds. Deer, turkey, ducks on the property. Can see Bull Shoals from the drive, drive to it in three minutes. Best move we ever made, would rather be outdoors than rambling around a big house. We bought a toon at the marina before we had a house, fish at least five days a week, should have done this years ago.

We didn't downsize as much as we got everything on one floor no basement steps, no second story. Steps are no fun as you get into the 70's and older.
