Can you tune a jerk bait?

I threw a Megabass Vision 110 today and it didn't run right. When I reeled to crank down it wouldn't dive and when I twitched it it just flopped around on the surface. I tied on a second one and it ran the way it was supposed to so there's something wrong with the first one. I had this happen with an Ima Flit before. Can these jerk baits be tuned, or are they just defective?

I don't know about a MB, but I have tuned other brands before.

I just can't figure out why it won't dive. It looks exactly like the others.

Any chance it is a knock-off? Are there Japanese characters in the pupil of the eyes?

Is the weight tranfer ball stuck in the tail?

I got them from a reputable dealer. The characters are in the eyes and the balls moves freely. It's the craziest thing. I can't find anything wrong with it.

Try both of them in the washbowl. How does it sit in the water? I'd bet that one is tail-down. Probably an assembly error; they should replace it. Who "they" is may be difficult to pin down. I don't think it's fair to pin this on the retailer. Importer, sure.

I tried it and they are both exactly the same. It the ball bearing is in the front it sinks nose down. If it's in the front then it sinks nose down. I think I'm going crazy. Maybe i need to tie it in again.
