Reel seat separation is a known manufacturing defect with some NRX rods. The wild card is designed to be used when you break the rod and it's your own fault as mentioned above. It's a one time, once per rod, replacement. Your issue is a manufacturers defect and will therefore be covered under the warranty. Obviously, you can use the wild card for any reason you like, if you could only get your dealer to honor it! I'm really surprised that Cabelas won't accept the wild card considering that you purchased the rod from them and they're Loomis dealers, that's very bad form on their part. The Tackle Trap honors wild cards from customers who've purchased rods from us no questions asked...

I can assure you that I won't be purchasing any more rods from Cabela's after they denied honoring the warranty and probably won't be purchasing any other new Loomis rods since none of their local dealers will honor the Wild Card.

Definitely a lesson learned on this one!

Understood. If you like high end rods and don't want to buy any more Loomis, let me tell you about Megabass rods sometime

On a side note, I've forwarded your situation to a contact I have at Shimano. Hopefully he will be able to help you out with this situation. It's really bad all the way around...
