    Hey Allison guys

Any chance any of you guys running the Allison's were fishing on the Ohio River out of Golconda IL a couple weekends ago? I was thinking I had seen at least one of you talking about fishing down there before. The reason I ask is there was a guy running what I think was the new model that looks like a standard bassboat layout. I was wanting to talk to him and check it out. It had a 250XS on it. I seen it tied up there on the bank but I missed him somehow. I've never been an Allison fan because I like a traditional layout but that thing was a sweet looking ride. I was just wanting to check it out and see how they were layed out. Wouldn't mind seeing what 90 or 100 mph in a bassboat felt like either.
I bet a rig like that has one heck of a price tag though. But I have to say that was a dang good looking rig. What is that quick draw rod storage thing they talk about on them also? They look like they have some very innovative features that most boats don't.

    Re: Hey Allison guys (chad201proxl)

I fish out of Golconda a few times a year, have inquired on here about others and was down last month. I don't think I'm the guy you saw,my Allison is a red XB2003 with a grey Mariner 260 (the unconventional one )
Be happy to take you for a ride, next time down.....Promise I won't scare you

Hey Bob, I'd love to go for a ride in one just to check it out. Scare the crap out of me, I can take it. The one I seen was definantly the conventional set up model. Allison is one of the few bassboats I've still never been in. Always wanted to go for a high speed ride in one. Been passed by a couple before. Its bad when your running about 72 and one of them go buy you like your sitting on the bank. I just live about 10 miles up the road from the Marina so if your down there and have time one day let me know. I'll meet you down there. I'll bring a change of pants just in case.

the price tag is steep- 36,900 for boat and trailer
you may have seen a bassport. has 2 consoles but still has a backseat. I don't think a bassport pro (only 2 seats) has made it over there yet

Wow, that is steep for just the boat. The one I saw definantly didn't have a back seat. I walked down to the water where it was tied up and looked at it from the front end. I never thought to look at his numbers and see what state he was from. I kept looking for him to go back to his boat so I could ask him if I could look it over better and somehow while talking to friends he was gone while I had my head turned. Unless those back seats come out and a deck extension covers them it was only a 2 seater though.

Bob, The river is in good shape now. I was out yesterday and all the creeks and even the river are a little dirtier, but all fishable. By this weekend they should be clear again, at least the creeks should be. We got a lot of rain last week and if flushed everything out good and it seems to have picked up the fishing. We had a pretty good day yesterday, caught around 20 fish and about 12 were keepers. Nothing big but some good ones for here. I'll email you this evening when I've got more time and exchange numbers.

    Hey Bob, you have mail.

Stay out of the A boat. Are they that good? I've heard a lot of good and bad about them. Most people say their fast but will beat you to death. The guys that have them I've noticed say their fast and ride awesome. I like to find out things for myself. A lot of people assume that because their light they have to ride bad and that is not necessarily true. I really want to ride in one just because its one of the few boats I've not been in and really have not seen very many of them or know anything about them. If they outrode a Stratos and fished well, I admit it, I'd switch. I've had back surgery and ride is the number 1 thing I want, that kind of speed would just be a bonus.

I've been in an Allison SuperSport and a 2003; the ride is awesome. Sure surprised me. The Allison hulls cut through the water where some other boats will sit more on top and hit the water hard.

Pretty sure that the SuperSport only weighs around 750 lbs and I was amazed at how it rides.

Re: Hey Allison guys (Al from Canada)

The ride really is good and most just don't believe until they ride in it. I've ridden in a few (not as many as some0 boats of different makes and can honestly say the Ally will compete with ride quality. Too me JMO, it fishes fine. I have fished many toruneys with my 280 # partner as well as others and have had 0 problems. Now, does that mean there aren't other boats with bigger front decks, no, it just depends on what you want. I have fished 2 men on the front deck of mine without issue. The ally's sell people on being unique with the ability to fish well, carry 5 people if needed for fun, get great fuel economy and really run well. Gotta try it. We are blessed today to have so many GREAT boat brands to choose from.

    Re: Hey Allison guys (JOEALLY)

Well, if I were to ever switch it would have to be for that new model with the standard bassboat layout. I have to have a lot of storage area and I just don't know if I could handle any other layout. I'm suprised it took Allison so long to build this new model. I would think there would be a lot of interest in it from guys that want the speed but in a more typical boat layout. That price tag though, it better be one heck of a boat. I still have to say though, I LOVE Stratos. Of course I LOVED my ex-wife at one time too.

Has anyone on here got one of the new models?

the allison has the best ride of them all. whoever says it don't is jealous and/or has never been in one. it will be your dream bote I promise. no other boat even comes close for fit and finish- the fiberglass that usually digs into your arms when you stick one in there to work on wiring or whatever- allison ain't got it. it's finished inside and out 100%

Re: Hey Allison guys (alli ss)

The new Xb-21 BasSport Pro will be on display @ the ODBA races in Plymouth,NC. this weekend Sept. 17th & 18th, Darris & Nancy Allison are bringing it over for all to see.
I also want to mention again how fuel effecient these boats are, when Bass & Walleye magazine did their tests a few years back on the XB-21 BasSport with a Mercury 200 xs, the fuel mileage was better @ a higher speed than a 90 hp 4-stroke on a 17' Alum boat and another big brand name boat with a 200 Optimax. Another thing to consider is the boat is lighter than other 21 footers making it easier to tow, this also adds fuel economy to your tow vehicle, what I'm trying to say is, even though the initial cost of an Allison may be higher than some of the mass produced boats, operating cost will be much less so your monthly expenses will be lower.
Hope to see many of you in Plymouth.

    Re: Hey Allison guys (Props4u2)

    Price a Z22 COMANCHE with a 300x/ Verado.

With that being said...The Ally will be cheaper in the long run just on gas used in the boat and your truck. They both are high.....But if you can afford to drop that much jack on a bassboat then gas shouldn't be a problem huh?

    Re: Hey Allison guys (StantonZ71)

    Chad.

I just got back from my first trip with the new 21 Prosport. The Prosport has the big cockpit and the center console that you and your partner can sit behind.
I might have went for the new two seater.... But once you fish out of one with the big console It's hard to go back to one that it takes four hands to drive!!! 1 for the steering wheel, 1 or the trim, 1 to hold your shirt collar so it does'nt beat you to death. and the last one (if you do it just right two fingers to keep your cap on while using the thumb to keep your sunglasses pushed against the bridge of your nose. I do a lot of winter time fishing and everytime I have to get back in a traditional style boat I start to shudder. especialy in the cold or rain.

    It is AWWWwwwsome
However I got plenty of fiberglass stickers from crawling around in the compartments to get it rigged. But I also got them from my 2003.

    Re: Hey Allison guys (fishnfireman)

I just really don't think I could deal with a layout like that. I'm sure its got some advantages, foul weather being one of them. But that's what they make gortex and helmets for. My 2000 Extreme Stratos I used to have had heated seats for cold weather. That was pretty sweet. The first time I used them I couldn't believe they actually helped. Half way accross the lake I had to shut them off, my butt was getting hot. I can't find anyone even remotely close to me though that has that bass sport pro model. I checked some of the closest dealers and none in stock. Must not be too many out there yet. I'll be honest with you guys though, I have a hard time believing they ride that good. But again, I've not been in one so I'm objective. But a couple of times I've fished tx's on KY lake and there have been a few down there. Twice I can think of an Allison has smoked me out of the marina in my last 201 but when we got down on the main lake where the waves were kicking up good it was a totally different ball game. Catch up to them and pass them like they were sitting still, and both times they really looked like they were struggling out there. But, driver is everything in rough water, if you don't know what your doing don't expect your boat to. I know how that goes. But, with their motors being run so high up on the transom like you guys run them, doesn't that make them lose their bite easy when it gets rough? Just a question, I've never owned a really high performance boat to know just looks like you would have prop blowout like crazy. I didn't get my ride in one last weekend, Bob wasn't able to get down this way like he had planned so I'm still not in the know.

    Sorry so long

    Re: Hey Allison guys (chad201proxl)

    Chad,
You really do need to ride in an Allison to believe the ride. You can also look at the long keel (V) the boat has, that tells a lot about how a boat will handle rough water. Like you stated, much depends on the driver in rough water, too fast you take a beating, too slow & you take a beating also. As far as the BasSport & BasSport Pro are concerned, there is no wind just as in the ProSport mentioned above, with the exception of the single console models, you can talk to your partner @ wot with no problem. I always thought that the wind between the consoles carried your voice away but the BasSports tought me that it is the wind blowing in your face that made it so you couldn't talk. The lack of wind does spoil you all the time not just in bad weather, you don't even have to worry about having your sun glass's sucked off your face as in most other boats.
