I was fishing a pocket today on the lake and on 1 side of it I found ten male bass guarding nest...they would not bite anything but would chase all the bluegill off...never saw them eat anything...as I was watching them there would be carp in the area of the bass...how come they don't try and chase those things off...looks to me that they would be a big threat to the bed also since they suck on the bottom...I'm just curious as to why the bass never acknowledged them...

I have seen big females chase off carp.........only saw it one day but saw it happen a bunch with a 7,8 lber I was watching in a day which makes me think it happens more than I see........

I figured they would...I sat there for like 30 mins and I bet 6-7 carp was there and he never bothered them...

You might be right...if i was him I would have ran...they were not small carp...all of them was probably over 8lb...

I have only seen the big females chase off carp. I saw 4 males with one female today so its not uncommon

I'd like you to show me where you found the research supporting this statement. Carp are very opportunistic, and will often eat small minnows, insect, and invertebrates on top of their normal diet of various aquatic vegetation

If they will eat a KVD 1.5 they will eat eggs. Whether they do or not I dont think the bass know or care. Its an intruder in their nesting area.

I thought so to...I don't think they discriminate against what they are sucking up...
