I have a 1984 Evinrude 90 hp motor with tilt and trim. It doesn't charge the battery any more and my tach doesn't work. I think it is my Rectifier and Regulator Assy, how do I check it to make sure before I pay the big bucks for a new one???

Model number please.
It uses the water cooled regulator/rectifier that mounts on top of the block, OEM#582904 or Sierra 18-5825.
