    BRP 7 year Warranty?

I just repowered on Oct 27th witha a 200 ETEC HO; 2 weeks to the day before they announced the the 7yr warranty promotion. I spent $2250 for a 3 yr warranty for a total of 6 years. I called the dealer and BRP directly and no-one will even discuss extending the warranty offer to anyone prior to their Nov 10th announcement. I can buy an item at any retail chain store and if that exact item goes on sale within the next 30 days, they will offer me the sale price or in store credit if I have my receipt. Is this a loss cause for me to pursue? I was without a motor for 3 months, I certainly could have waited 2 more weeks to save $2250 and receive an extra year's warranty! I was to the point of flipping a coin between the etec and Opti; I'm afraid BRP has lost a future customer after these phone conversations today!

Your dealer should have know about the promo's and passed that info to you. Just my 2 cents.

Dealers had no idea when the program was going to start. They found out the day before it started. Im surprised it started so early this year. I am not sure if you will get anywhere with the warranty. It does not hurt to keep pushing the issue.

Maybeyou can get dealer to say they fat fingered the date of the sale and pluged in 10 for the month instead of 11.

I don't see how that can be BRP's fault or the dealer's for that matter. If I go and buy a car that has a $1,000 rebate today, and two weeks later they bump that rebate to $4,500, I am not going to get that $3,500 no matter how loud I yell. That is what you need to compare your purchase to. Not some retail chain. And, by the way, not all chains will do what you are talking about. Been there, done that.

You wanted it. You bought it. And, you were happy with your purchase. Don't let this take away your happiness.

You have a great motor and must have felt like you got a fair deal or you wouldn't have bought it. Enjoy it and move on.

I spoke to Art, customer rep, at BRP and they claim that they did not know at BRP until Nov 9th due to negotiations with First Protection Warranty Company. That is the company providing the additonal 4 years. Art stated that they had to offer the warranty ASAP due to competitors announcing their promotions earlier than normal. I inquired about any near future promotions prior to signing any paperwork numerous times and was told by the dealer that it would be after 1 Jan 07 at the earliest. Art told me that they had about 14 complaints from people who purchased within 30 days prior to the announcement. None of you can convince me that giving 15-20 purchasers a $2500 dollar break will adversley affect BRP's bottom line! Yes, it is a business - A very BIG business that can afford to take care of their customers - Heck, they could turn it into a customer service advertisement. Every one of y'all on this board would be just as frustrated as myself if you were in my shoes. I have 1hr and 10 minutes on this motor and I have a great first impression with the product. I am just venting over a few grand!!
To rub it in, they announced it on Veterans Day and I'm a 20yr Persian Gulf Vet, but a Canadian Company could care less!

Well John, since you put it that way, I'm contacting Ford today about those additional rebates they came out with and the 5 yr, 60,000 mile powertrain warranty they came out with just a couple of weeks after I bought my $31,000 '06 F-150. Since they are a big company, I'm sure they can stroke me a check for that extra warranty and the $3,500 in extra rebates.

I really appreciate your service to our country , but you've got to get over this. I understand you were upset initially, but I really cannot see where they owe you this money.

A very unfair statement to a Canadian company and the all the Canadian vets that we honor on the same day. This warranty on this Made in USA ! motor has nothing to do with any vets or any nationality.

Re: BRP 7 year Warranty? (Basstoon) Apology

I'm over it! The remark about the Canadian Company was directed at BRP and not any veterans in Canada and I sincerely apolgize to anyone that interpreted it as an attack on Canadian veterans. I have served with some and they are top-notch. I'm sorry. I read these pages for honest input and realize you don't always get the answers you want to hear. Thanks to all that provide good information here. Have a safe and great Thanksgiving. Remember the troops that are deployed during the holidays.

In my area some of the dealers raised their price when the warranty is announced. They tell me that because they are not BRP mega-dealers they have to kick in a portion of the warranty cost to the third party warranty provider. Had you bought the motor after the free warranty offer you may have paid more.
Another point to make you feel better is that I have been told that the free extended warranty is not worth the paper it is written on. Your purchased warranty probably has better coverage than the free warranty. From what I have seen of a copy of the free warranty offered last year it had lots of “conditions” that could make it difficult to get the work done under the contract. (Anyone that has one needs to read it word for word to make sure they know the conditions.)
By the way have a happy thanksgiving. We will be having freshly caught white perch this year along with store bought turkey, store bought bread, and vegetables from the garden. The striped bass were all under the 18 inch limit this year so we changed tactics to get some perch and it paid off. I plan to thank the creator for the abundance he shares with me and to ask his pardon for not sharing with those less fortunate. My entire family thanks you for your service to the country. To the Canadian vet, my family also thanks you for your service to the free world. My father in law spoke many times of the bravery of the Canadian sailors that accompanied him into battle during WWII.
