Navionics charting questions - need help with charting?

Paul,
I have a Gen 1 HDS 7 Basemap. I bought a Platinum West chip for it. From my garage, I selected "Navionics", selected lakes, and I got a list of all the lakes within about 35 miles from my house and no others. The list began with the lake closest to my location and after 35 miles, nothing. The lake list for the Platinum West is in the thousands. Am I missing a prompt or setting to get the other lakes to show up? Do I need to register the chip first? I just opened the package and plugged it in after I got it. I've never used a mapping system before. Thanks for any help ! Scott

Hi Scotti

I only needed to plug mine in. I would probably plug it into your computer and get all of the updates and test again. If that does not work I would update HDS7.

I never seen what you describe: are you sure you got the latest update on you're Gen1? The Gen1 when they came out (the very 1st) were unable to read the Navionics.
Habitually once you select Navionics you just zoom in on a lake and you will see all the détails showing up.

How to see if your HDS is already using version 4.1:
From a chart or sonar page, press the MENU key twice to activate the Settings menu.
Select SYSTEM.
Select ABOUT from the SYSTEM menu.
The software version is displayed with the title "Application" and 4.1.36.68.
If your Application is the same as listed in step 4 above, there is no need to download the software.
Charting Enhancements – Quick access mapping selection is now available with Lowrance/Navionics chart toggle under Chart Options or soft key accessible on HDS-8 and HDS-10. Also, users can now display points of interest supplied by the Navionics User Community.

If my HDS 7 Gen 1 is not 4.1.36.68, what do I physically need to do do get it there? I need to know step by step what to do. Thaks for your help !!!

When has there been any "freshest data" added to Kentucky Lake or Barkley in Tennessee or Kentucky? Or any other Tn lake?

Looking at the Premium and Platinum Lake List on the Navionics website list it shows B Everett Jordan lake in NC near Raleigh to not have 1' contours. I Have the 2012 Platinum East card and it has B Everett Jordan with 1' contours---whats up? The PC App also shows 1' contours on Jordan?

Also, IF it does have B Everett Jordan high def, which cards work on the Elite 7 HDI---Premium and/or Platinum?

I'm in the same boat, my year of updates is not over. The ice is finally melting and I am getting ready for open water fishing. I went to update my card and I cannot due to not enough room on disk. I have the Canada Gold 2XG.

scotti: yes sounds like you have intiial launch of HDS. once you plug the chip in, you just have to go under menu and charts then select Navionics. After that everything should pop up. Wally may be right on the sotware needing updating. you can download it from the Lowrance website.

glock: I dont have a specific breakdown o what lakes, what and when. I cant ell you or 100% certainty that all of our HD lakes had some new data added and/or Coastline adjustments. In act, all lakes at this point (or close to it) should have corrected coastlines.

sept: the not enough space issue is one that is coming up with data being added and with SonarCharts potentially even more. Contact our customer service department. They will upgrade your chip for you for a larger size at no charge.

Paul or Wallyandre, the new platinum + chip, will it be based on the gold or platinum chip ?

I think the P+ is base on the Hotmap Premium and the Gold + some Google Earth data.

if you're refering to the Nav+ chip that hasnt launched yet :) That will be both Premium Hot Maps, Gold and SonarChart info

I have had a Platinum Hotmaps chip I use on my HDS8 Gen2 doing Freshest data updates for about 8-9 months. Just ordered and received a new Hotmaps Premium Chip for my Elite 7. Do I need to do anything special with Freshest Data to update each chip? Can I use same PC, same copy of the software? Don't want Navionics to get messed up and stop Freshest Data updates for both when the Platinum expires, but it would be ok to update both until my new Premium expires.

Have not tried to update, register or anything on the Premium chip until I know it is safe.
