Why is it that so many are so stuck on one way of thinking? The thread about the negative trim on the 150hp shootout proves there are many self proclaimed outboard geniuses out there.
HAIL THE E-TEC!!!

HAIL THE E-TEC!!!
It's o.k. We can already see who's on top! To each his own, when the rooster tail settles,I know who will be at the back of the pack!![]()

Why is it EVERYONE is talking about the E-Tec?
Because it demands attention from EVERYONE.![]()
.. and the funniest part of the whole Powerboats's test with the motors run fully trimmed in for "equality" is that E-TEC was still the fastest. I think it was close to 4 mph faster than the Mercs.

I don't read magazines ....well OK, I cant read....but I don't remember seeing any pictures of motors trimmed down for a test.
Why would they test motors trimmed down?![]()
I saw that thread, and personally, I really don't care which motor is the fastest or the most fuel efficient since they are all similar in performance. Not only that it seems one brand of motor might do better on a given boat model and another brand does better on the next model.
I don't know why that holds true at times and the only thing I can think of is how the hull of the boat and lower unit works together.
For me, I like the ETec over the others because I prefer 2 strokes over 4 strokes and I like the idea of "No required dealer service for 3yr or 300 hrs." Then again, maybe I'm just partial to motors in white??
Almost forgot, can someone tell me what the deal is with THT where Wiley keeps deleting links to BBC? He says it's because BBS doesn't allow links to them. Is that true?

When your on top everyone loves to hate you.
Which motor was in the test? The regular 150 or 150HO?
Bash fest which hurts the credibility of the hull truth
The testing was done last April so the regular E-TEC 150 was perhaps a prototype pre-production model. They mentioned a lag on acceleration and a rough running area, none of which are in production motors today.
