    Tournament Rule Question...

I read on the FOMNTT website that boats must have a steering wheel to enter the tourneys. That eliminates the tiller steering handle motors. Just curious as to why the rule? Anyone know the reason behind that one? Seems if you have a kill switch that would be all that matters.

Don't know why that would be a problem, but I won a BUNCH of cash out of a 16 ft river jon with a 40hp evinrude on it back in my teens. Tiller handle with a home made front deck that went about 10 foot back.

the old style 'stick steering' boats were ....dangerous to say the least....nowadays, you just dont see that type of steering system anymore, mainly for insurance reasons....

have you ever driven a boat with 'stick steering ' ? the biggest problem was, if you needed to slow down fast and pulled the wrong stick.....you made a hard starboard turn at speed.....lots of accidents happened ...thats why they use steering wheels nowadays.....

i would think that tiller steering should be allowed using special wording in the tnt rules....

Unless you walk into a BPS. All of the Tracker Panfish models are stick steer.

Yes, my boat has a tiller steering handle like the ones on the Gator Swamp Peoiple show. No way to pull the wrong stick. I only have one on my motor.
